Tomboy filters western masculinity through his transgender perspective. Selleck cheekily parodies “old boys club,” while delivering midcentury-masculinity that pairs oh so nicely with debaucherous behaviour.
Tomboy Selleck delivers Chippendale inspired, “Magical Michael” meets Monty Python boylesque. He believes that his visibility as a trans masc performer is integral to securing trans rights in Alberta…after all, how could anyone hate someone so cute?
“My intention with burlesque is to continue learning, developing and performing at my highest possible level. I want to offer a glimmer of my transgender experience to others. I want to challenge people’s realities; whether is be as significant as seeing trans people as shining, beautiful humans that deserve to be celebrated, or as trivial as “there is a smaller hat under this bigger hat.”
